Farheen Zia is a third-year PhD Scholar in the Department of Political Science at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Delhi and a Master’s degree in the same discipline from Jamia Millia Islamia. Her doctoral research focuses on Gender-Discriminatory Nationality Laws in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. With a keen interest in gender equality, feminist legal theory, and human rights, her research presents a critical analysis of laws through a gendered lens, demonstrating inherent gender bias within legal frameworks and its broader implications for affected populations. With a vision to contribute academically and socially to gender justice and equality, she aspires to build a career in academia while engaging with human rights institutions to advocate for more inclusive and equitable nationality laws.
